Do your edges feel grabby, are the bases slow and sluggish or you just can't find an edge to save your soul? Be it skis or snowboards; we have the tuning facility and over 75 years of tuning expertise at Hillcrest. Our shop is equipped with the finest in tools and machinery from SVST and Wintersteiger.
Edge and Wax - This consists of sharpening the edges to a 1 degree angle or bringing the edges back to factory tuned specs. Also, we detune the contact points and deburr the edges so the ski or board transitions into turns more smoothly. When the edging is done the ski or board gets a machine wax.
Full Tune - A full tune consists of a stone grind, P-Tex, sharpening edges and wax. This is the same as an Edge and Wax but the ski or board also receives a stone grind. The stone grind structures and flattens the ski or board. This structure allows the bases to retain wax better and for the ski or board to glide better over the snow. A full tune will take a used ski and make it like new.
Race Tune - A race tune consists of stone grind, P-Tex, Sharpening edges to a racer's or manufacturer's specs and wax. The edges are hand sharpened and diamond filed for optimum glide. Also, we iron wax the bases for maximum wax penetration.
BOOT FITTING

For everyone who has ever skied, the majority of us have dealt with the pain of wearing ski boots. Men’s as well as ladies ski boots are designed and built around an “average” foot shape and I swear that everyone who comes in for boots has anything but an average foot! Boots don’t take into account abnormalities that feet have and most of us have them.
We understand that the boot is the link between the skier and the ski. Your feet, which are home to 25% of the bodies bones, 33 joints and more than 100 muscles, tendons and blood vessels, are designed to keep you balanced. When your balance is compromised due to an ill fitted boot, your feet not only hurt and go numb but you can’t buy a turn to save your day of skiing!
When we sell boots or fit your existing boots we take the time necessary to do a complete and thorough job. Everything from measuring both feet for overall length, width and arch length to shell sizing and shell modification to stance alignment. See, the boot needs to work with the skier rather than the skier conforming to the boot! Not only will you ski better, but you’ll be skiing better because you are not in pain!
We will talk about and recommend proper socks and insoles and the benefits of both. The correct sock will move moisture (sweat)from your feet; the feet stay dry and therefore warmer. Using a supportive insole that contours the feet and allows the feet to remain dynamic verses locked up is life changing in itself.
Hillcrest invested heavily a few years ago. We purchased some of the finest equipment available to date ranging from boot presses to state of the art sole planer by Keyser Tools. We spent countless hours updating our fitting technique and knowledge at Whistler. So, if you're in need of new boots, you have fitting issues with your current boots or you simply want to see if you are in the right boot, come on in to Hillcrest, we look forward to seeing you.
